To alleviate the potential of neck movement over time, Yamaha has introduced multilayered necks. Their 26 and 36 models feature two solid strips of paddock sandwiched between the mahogany. Their 6 and 16 models feature a strip of rosewood set into the center of the mahogany neck. Both paddock and rosewood have been chosen for their rigidity and we know from past experience that these woods complement mahogany tonally.
